RESERVATION PROVISIONS IN INDIAN CONSTITUTION -

Reservation is a tool which gives the underprivileged equal representation and participation rights, be it in governance or education. A beneficiary of this Reservation is expected to up lift his / her community. 

# Reservation is provided to SCs, STs and OBCs rate of 15% ,7.5%, 27% respectively,in case of direct requirement in all india basis by open competition. 

#10%Reservation under the EWS Category applies to those not cover under the existing scheme of Reservations for the SCs, STs and OBCs.

Constitutional provisions related to Reservation 
1 Reservation in educational institution has been provided in Article 15(4) while Reservation in posts and services has been provided in Article 16 (4), 16 (4A) and 16(4B) of the constitution.
2 Article 46 of the constitution provides that the state shall promote with special care the educational and economic interests of the weaker section  of the society and, of the SCs and STs and shall protect them from social injustice and all forms of exploitation. 
3 Article 243 D provides Reservation of seats for scheduled cost and Scheduled Tribes in Panchayats. 
4 Article 330 provides Reservation of  seats for SCs and STs in the house of the people. 
5 Article 332 provides Reservation of seats SCs and STs in legislative Assemblies of the States.
