What is Delhi Service Bill 2023 ?
● The Delhi Service Bill, formly called Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill 2023, has been tabled in the Indian Parliament. 
● It is set to replace a current ordinance which overrides a Directive of the Supreme Court that gives command to the Government of Delhi ovar most services. 
● The ordinance has been a major reason for contention between Delhi Government and the Central Government

Why in news?
■ As of now Bill is passed in both the Houses of Indian Parliament. It will promulgated into law once signed by India's president Draupadi Murmu .
■ Loksabha passed a Bill a nearly four - hour- long debate. 
■ Indian Home Minister, while responding to the debate on the Bill , stated that the power to make lows of Union Territories, lies with the Central Government and since Delhi is a Union Territory, the Centre has full rights to make rules for it as well. 

What is features of the Bill ?
1- The Delhi Services Bill states that the inquiries and suspensions of the official of the national Capital will be under the Centre's control. 
2- The Lieutenant Governor will be impowerd to exercise to his direction on various matters, which will include the decision of National Capital Civil Service Authority and summoning and Dissolution of the Delhi Legislative Assembly .
3- The National Capital Civil Services Authority  will include the Chief Secretary of Delhi, the Principal Home Secretary of Delhi and the Delhi Chief Minister.

Recently, the Union Cabinet cleared a proposal to bring uniformity in the marriageable age of men and women. By amending the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA), 2006 and other personal law, the legal age of marriage of women will be raised rom 18 to 21 years.The decision is based on the recommendation of a four-member task force led by former Samata Party chief Jaya Jaitly. Note: The task force was set up to re-examine the age of marriage and its correlation to health and social indices such as infant mortality, maternal mortality, and nutrition levels among mothers and children.
